In a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) project with the state of Karnataka, L&T IDPL constructed a power transmission line of ~ 470 kilometers, with ~ 1200 towers. Formed as an SPV named Kudgi Transmission Limited, the company needs to maintain the transmission line assets for more than 20 years for ensuring the availability of electricity transmission without any downtime. For this challenging task, they developed a unique application that provides information and maintenance history of each tower with the click of a button. The application helps in streamlining the rectification work across all hubs and elements.

Each tower of the line has been mapped with latitude and longitude details. It helps to identify towers with various colors for differentiating the hubs across different terrain. The availability of dashboard for maintenance status across hub and elements over a distance of more than 470 km in a click of a button from anywhere increases the visibility of information and improves decision-making.

The functionality of tracking the GPS location ensures the business team that the maintenance team is visiting the location and rectifying the issues. The application helps the maintenance team to plan their activity based on the calendar in advance, instructions to perform that action on the field, provides facility to capture data with minimal data entry in real-time mode. It also helps management in tracking whether the workmen visited the site as per the schedule through GPS location tracking.
